Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Drumslanga’s talent has taken him across the United States and around the world. He is unconstrained by genre with tenacity and passion apparent in his work ethic and every performance. He has played notable U.S. venues such as The Fonda (Los Angeles, CA), First Avenue (Minneapolis, MN), and The Filmore (San Francisco, CA) as well as international five-star properties including Grand Hyatt Manila, and Park Hyatt Shenzhen.
Drumslanga approaches his discipline with the motto, “I’d rather you feel me than to hear me, any day”. Regardless of genre, he offers an energetic and focused performance that conveys the nuance required for the style. He loves to play funk, jazz fusion, hip-hop, and instrumental drum and bass. His influences include Chris Dave, Bernard Purdie, Nate Smith, Dave Chiverton, Stanley Randolph, Clyde Stubblefield, and Josh Foster..
As a gifted drummer, he studied Instrumental Music with a concentration in Percussion at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL where he co-founded the drumline. Drumslanga’s range and professionalism are evident in his ensemble affiliations. He is the drummer for award-winning Orchestra Noir (Atlanta’s all-Black Orchestra) and Kairos Creature Club, a collective of “alt-rebel artists” who offer cross-genre dance music through high level instrumentation. In 2023, Kairos opened for Caroline Rose on The Art of Forgetting Tour. He has also worked with Tomy Ge and The Shift, winner of NBC’s The Sing Off, Jay Myztroh of the Hip-Hop Soul duo Stono Echo with Paten Locke, and Bold City Classics, a popular multi-instrumentalist corporate band, and the singing sensation Elvis Francois.
